Blastocyst injection of ES cells
The generation of genetically engineered mice by ES cell targeting involves the construction of a targeting vector harboring the genetic modification and a selection marker (e.g. antibiotic resistance). Upon introduction in mouse ES cells the the targeting vector integrates at a specific site within the genome by homologous recombination. Positive ES cell clones are isolated under selective conditions and verified by Southern blot.
The TCU offers the injection of the selected mutant ES cells into blastocysts in order to generate the desired mouse mutant. We may also be able to provide lab space for ES cell culture and guidance through the process.
If your are considering the generation of genetically engineered mice by injection of ES cells please contact the TCU (Simon Tröder).

To verify the quality of the ES cell clones we also ask you to send us the Southern blot results with the targeting strategy and the result of a mycoplasma test for each clone.
